4 Ways to Avoid Being a Commodity So You Get Paid for Your Incredible Factor--Darnyelle A. Jervey

1. Stop competing
Because you have clearly identified your ideal client (your audience of one) there is no need for you to compete with anyone else also in your industry. As an example, there are thousands of marketing coaches but few of them focus on mindset, marketing and money-making strategy the way that Darnyelle does.

By defining and unleashing your Incredible Factor, delivering your “Secret Sauce” and “Signature Business Move” to your ideal client and marketing your Incredible Factor Signature System, you are no longer going to blend in with the crowd. Instead, you are going to stand way out and get more people to take notice to the way you offer results for your clients.

2. Say you specialize
Tell people, “I specialize in…” when talking about your services. People are accustomed to giving more respect to specialists. You’ll automatically have more authority when you describe yourself in this way. And, it helps them to understand the investment it will take to work with you because they expect to pay a specialist more.

3. Raise your fees
Regardless of what you are charging now, it’s probably not enough. So raise your fees. Whatever your highest rate was, it is now your lowest. Take a deep breath.

You may opt to allow current clients to continue at their current rates and raise your fees only for your new clients.

4. Ask every client for a testimonial or success story
If someone experiences a breakthrough because of you, ask them to put it in writing, in audio or on video. Make it a point to ask for the testimonial as soon as they experience a breakthrough. You can ask them if you can use what they told you over the phone or would they like to send you a formal testimonial.

When highlighting your clients via testimonials, always ask if you can feature them. A “feature” allows them to be prominently displayed via your website for all of your website visitors to see, which is a win-win. You win because they are singing your work’s praises; they win because they may attract clients and prospects to their products and services.

Assignment:
1. Step 1: List all of the ways that you stand out from your peers in your industry:
2. Step 2: How can you create marketing materials that highlight how you stand out?
3. Step 3: Do your products and services focus on how you stand out? If not what adjustments are necessary?
4. Step 4: How would your clients say that you stand out? Ask every client you’ve worked with this year for a testimonial

Does Your Incredible Factor have STYLE?-Darnyelle A. Jervey

Just to be clear, I’m not talking about the way you dress or your hair style. I’m not talking about how you enter a networking event or the way you shake a hand. I’m not even talking about your business card or company brochure.

Although each of these are important to the image you portray when you are out and about sharing your Incredible Factor with others, today we are talking about creating a STYLE that offers Solutions That have ideal clients Yearning to Learn how they can Experience working with you.

That’s right, your goal as a service-based entrepreneur (coach, author, speaker, event planner, hair stylist, attorney, trainer, consultant, etc) is to present yourself in such a compelling way that your ideal clients rise up and say, “He/she is talking to me, they can solve my problem. I can’t afford not to get their solutions.”

You MUST become a problem solver.

If your Incredible Factor is not solving a problem in the marketplace, you have no STYLE and if you have no STYLE you have no clients, no income, no business.

When you lack STYLE, people look at you funny and your phone doesn’t ring. No one wants to spend time with you because they are afraid others will see them in your presence. They see spending time with you as a waste because all you do is talk a good game without any evidence to support it.

If you truly want your passion to produce a profit, then you need to create compelling marketing materials that create an eruption in the lives of your prospects. They will be ready to do anything and pay anything to finally solve their problem because you are showing them the solution.

Successful entrepreneurs have figured this out and they have taken their STYLE to the next level. They are using their Incredible Factor to serve the world in a big way because they realize that people need their Incredible Factor, just like people need yours.

Your job is to first get STYLE and then to share it so it begins to attract your ideal clients and grow your business. Remember the universal law of business “find people who are currently experiencing the problem that you solve who are ready RIGHT NOW to pay for a solution”? This is the key to closing another client, getting booked for one more speaking engagement, being referred to plan another event, etc.

Want STYLE:

1. Develop a mindset that allows you to get out of your own way and focus on sharing your STYLE with those who need you. 95% of everything is attitude [mindset] only 5%, which is fully teachable and transferable, is skill.

You should get excited; yet, FEAR shuts many people down (perhaps even you) because they have a self-sabotaging mindset and they can’t see beyond their own mess. As a good friend of mine says, “get out of your head and into your heart.” That’s where your Incredible Factor does its best work. That is where you realize the intrinsic value you offer to the lives of others.

Your EGO keeps you afraid of what having STYLE will mean and therefore your business suffers, which means your family suffers as well. I know that you didn’t go into business to suffer; you went into business to make a profound difference and share your STYLE with others.

Your Incredible Factor has absolutely nothing to do with you; it is about and for others to be served in a big way. When you lack confidence and believe that no one wants to work with you or you buy into the lies you’ve been told for a very long time, (no one wants your product or service, you are not qualified for the business you have, people will know you’re a fraud, etc.) your STYLE quotient goes way down. It’s true; people want to work with experts who know they have STYLE and gladly share their STYLE so they can be enriched, empowered and informed and most importantly so their problems can be solved.

2. Get clear on the problems of your ideal client. Get clear on how you solve those problems. Get testimonials to support the results you say you offer.

If you are not sure what you do for your clients, ask them. I’m sure they’d be happy to tell you.

Consider sending a survey to determine what they need to go to their next level as it pertains to the services you provide. Go back through your client folders and look at the notes you’ve made after their initial consultation and as you worked directly with them. What did you uncover?

Also, look at your top 5 clients; you know the ones that if you could get 100 more of them, you’d be set. What do they all have in common? What was their problem? What brought them to work with you? What did you do for all of them? Did they consistently share how your ideas and advice with others that made a difference in their lives? Did they refer others to work with you because you solved their problem?

Sidebar, if you cannot answer these questions or you don’t like the responses, I recommend investing in a business coach or mentor to help you identify the answers to these questions.

If you want STYLE, you’ve got to be willing to say, “I need help,” and invest in your business to get it. Remember, if you don’t invest in yourself to solve your problems, clients will not invest in you.

3. Determine what questions you can ask to engage your ideal prospects. In my world, we call these “pull marketing questions,” because they “pull” them in to your solution to their problem.

If they come on their own, you don’t have to beg and plead or lower your prices to get them to join your program, become your client, etc.

What can you put on your website, business card, include in your 30-second commercial that will let ideal prospects that are listening, reading, following you, know that YOU have the solution they’ve been searching for?

4. Once you get clear on their problems and your solutions, to enhance your STYLE, offer a high-value, high content irresistible free offer for them to get tuned into your STYLE.

People love to buy but they will only buy when they know you, like you and trust you. Perhaps a free tele-class (be sure your title and content is results oriented NOT processes focused.)

People don’t care how you do what you do, they care about results. If you can show them consistently that you are the ONLY solution to their growing problems, they will begin to say “I like your STYLE.”

5. Share your free offer everywhere so that they can self-select to learn more and once you’ve been given an audience with them, use your STYLE to solve their problem!

5 Strategic Steps to Creating a Product Progression Plan – Darnyelle A. Jervey

Have you ever created a fabulous product, sold out of it and wondered what your next big thing to help your clients would be?

What about putting everything you have into one product and not knowing what to offer next?

If you answered yes to either question or you’ve never given it a second thought, chances are you need a product progression plan.

A product progression plan is just what it sounds like: a plan that helps your ideal clients progress from one product to the next to solve their problems so that you become their solution for life. If you’re in business to build customers for life, then you must be committed to creating products and services that help your ideal clients progress from problem to solution over a period of time.

What I found to be true is that as an industry expert, you must become a GPS to your ideal clients and prospects. You must give them one direction (in the form of a product or service) at a time until they reach their ultimate destination (a clearly demonstrated solution to the problem they have that you solve for them).

I have found that most entrepreneurs don’t ask themselves “what’s next?” when it comes to consistently delivering high value products and services to their customer/client base. They just have their one big solution and don’t think ahead to discover what their clients will require next. Or better still, how to break the solution up into bite-sized pieces so they aren’t overwhelmed at any given point in time.

Enter a product progression plan. Creating one can be the difference between being a one- hit wonder or a ROCK Star for life in the eyes of your customers.

Your assignment this week is to begin to create your own product progression plan. Having a well thought out plan for how you will continually serve your clients is essential to growing a profitable business. To begin, be sure to list all of your existing properties that were created to solve the problems of your ideal clients. Ask yourself, what problem is solved with which product? Be sure that every problem or by-problem is solved by a product or service that you offer. Once you’ve listed everything you’ve got and offer out, follow these simple questions to detail your progression plan so that going forward you never have to ask yourself what’s next when it comes to solving problems for your customers:

1. Start with your Irresistible Free Offer. What is the transformation it will provide to your ideal client prospects? What else will they “get” when they subscribe to your marketing list? How can you consistently ensure that value will be provided to them?

2. Ask yourself, after they finish with my IFO, what is the next logical product or service offering for them to consider to deepen their experience with my company? Write that down. Do you already have this product in a sellable format? If not, create it in multiple mediums and package it and make it available as soon as possible.

3. Then ask yourself, how will you tell them about it? What will the service delivery entail? How will I know that I created the right mix for that problem?

4. After that product is created and available, again, ask yourself what will they need once they have solved that part of the problem? What problems have been created by solving that part of the problem? Do you have an offer for that problem?

5. Keep asking yourself these questions until there are no other products or services for you to offer to your clients then go back and add dates to your plan for when and how you will let your ideal clients know about your products and services.

Once you’ve answered each of these questions in detailed succession, create a systematic approach to getting these products into the hands of your ideal prospects by creating a timeline and approach for releasing the information. If you do this correctly, you will have an arsenal of products and services to offer to your prospects for years and years to come.

The Secret Millionaire and Your Incredible Factor - Darnyelle A. Jervey

Last night, I watched the premiere of the Secret Millionaire on ABC and it really moved me to tears. I applaud the creators of the show for finally creating a reality show that stirs the hearts of those of us who desire to serve the world in a big way with our Incredible Factor. I got extremely choked up as I watched Dani Johnson award the three organizations and a family where she was able to volunteer with a total of $100,000. I cried, "Man, that is why I get up in the morning and work hard - so that I can one day in the very near future give back with a financial gift to further the dream of another. I serve my clients so that I can serve the world. Man, that is so fulfilling and it makes me so grateful."

What I loved about each of the organizations visited by Dani is that each founder created their organization out of their passion and desire to be a blessing to others in their community. Make a note of this: Your passion can be your career and it is from your passion that lives will be changed, dreams born and hearts filled in abundance. That, dear friends is why I left corporate America in 2005. That is why I created Incredible One Enterprises in 2007.
I was watching the show with a friend and we agreed that this was exactly why we do what we do. Being a successful business person is little about the business person; it affords us the opportunity to serve the world and offer the fruits of our labor to help someone else live their dream.

I'm totally excited about this show and I look forward to watching each week so that the dreams that I have will be fueled by watching what others just like me have done first by owning their Incredible Factor, second by starting their own companies and living their passion and third by sharing their wealth to create abundance for another.

If you want a LIFT, You Must SHIFT - Darnyelle A. Jervey - Author, Speaker, Business Coach

"How to Use Your Incredible Factor to Lift Your Results By Shifting Your Reality."

Personal Responsibility. That's exactly what it took for me one year ago to achieve the success that I know my business was created for. I had to take complete ownership over the daily operations, the plan, the systems and the strategies that would bring me more joy, more clients, more income and more time for what I deem important. Dare I say it, I had to commit to implementation. After all that is the one thing that separates money makers from those who talk about wanting to make money.

Like many new entrepreneurs, I started my business out of love, because I love the empowerment of others, BECAUSE I WANT TO SEE WOMEN IN BUSINESS SUCCEED AND BUILD A LEGACY - but the reality was that I wasn't making any money when I opened its doors. So out of fear, I took a job. Can I really be real with you? I figured, "the mortgage and car payment must be made somehow, and since I've not yet figured out how to make that happen, I'll go back to work." It was hard after the income and success of Mary Kay to get a job. BUT LACK OF FOCUS AND CLARITY CREATES A SCARCITY MINDSET. Now, I believe that there is nothing wrong with launching a business while you still work a fulltime job. But I do believe that your job must become your fundraising opportunity and your mindset must be fixed on getting to your purpose - your reason why.

For the first year of my business, I was complacent - a client here, a speaking engagement there - it was all good. But then I looked at my paycheck and realized that it wasn't going to give me the personal fulfillment of serving people in a big way or the income to enjoy my service. I'm being real with you - money is necessary and if you've duped yourself into believing that all you need is enough to pay your bills, you need to SHIFT.

So in September 2009, I went to work in my business. I hired a high level business coach and joined several high level PAID mastermind groups. I hired a team so that I wasn't the only employee in my company. I shifted my mindset to say, I will give my business the same respect I was giving my employer. Now it was a job I loved, Running the Women's Business Center for the State of Delaware [The Center for Women's Entrepreneurship]- working with aspiring and new entrepreneurs every day to set up their businesses the right way - sound familiar - but it wasn't business on my own terms.

I realized that all that I need was within me and I could create the business that I longed for by creating a system. And I did. I created the Leverage Your Incredible Factor System by looking at what was working for me and using my marketing abilities to solidify a process to get and keep clients asking to work with me. I began sharing it with my clients while I also performed the steps and what happened? All of our businesses grew exponentially. I diversified my business model - Do you know that I booked 40 paid speaking at at least $3500? Do the math. Did you know that I clearly defined my business coaching program, increased my rates based on the value and results I was offering, immediately enrolled 10 private high level, high dollar coaching clients, started group coaching programs at varying income thresholds, began to write a new book - guaranteed to be a best seller, created ancillary products and I saw my business model and business plan more than quadruple.... And here we are today, December 1, 2010 where I am on the verge of helping you do the same.

Why am I sharing this with you? Well, I put in my notice at my job (Just over Broke) and effective in 2 weeks I'm going to run my already 6 figure business that I built in 11 months full time. I'm going to unveil everything that I did to everyone who will invest in me and themselves over the next few months with intesive workshops giving you the best that I've got. And this is happening all because of my shift in order to lift.

Trust me, I'm not bragging. I'm sharing honestly so that you can get the lift you deserve by shifting. YOU CANNOT DO IT ALONE. TRUST ME, I'VE TRIED. MAKE SURE YOU REGISTER FOR MY FREE PREVIEW CALL AND I WILL SHARE THE REST OF THE STORY AS WELL AS THE PRINCIPLES YOU MUST ENGAGE IN YOUR LIFE AND BUSINESS TO DO THE SAME.

Get FREE so your Incredible Factor can THRIVE - Darnyelle A. Jervey

One of the consistent problems I see entrepreneurs attempting to work through is what I will call "getting free." Getting free is essentially the process of eliminating all activities or distractions that prevents your Incredible Factor from solving your ideal client's problems in the marketplace. This could be completing daily tasks that should be delegated to someone else. It could be working in an environment that is not conducive to success. It could be spending time with people who do not add value to you or your business goals. It could be ineffectively acting inauthentic or preventing your true self, purpose and passions from shining through in your business.

I've been there in my own business. I sent my Pink Cadillac back to Mary Kay Cosmetics in April of 2008 because I wanted to live my own dream by creating my mindset, marketing and empowerment firm for women yet; you could come to my house (up until September 6, 2010) and see remnants of my last career and each time I walked past, I got disgusted because my past was still in my present. Don't get me wrong, Mary Kay was an amazing experience, one that I think every woman who desires to understand the fundamentals of confidence and business acumen in a supportive environment should pursue. My challenge was that I would look at the full product display and get sidetracked from the important tasks that needed to be completed in my current and thriving business. (sidebar – I wouldn’t be distracted for long, I’d handle my business BUT its presence was a constant source of distraction and distaste every time I walked by and that was every day.)

Now it would have been easy to get my assistant to break down the displays and such but I didn't because I wasn't really ready to get free. Free from the distraction. Free from the good times. Free from the success. Free from what I thought was failure because I walked away from a perfectly viable business. Maybe I’d go back if it didn’t work out – I was bound and unable to give my all to this new, exciting, passion and purpose filled business.

Honestly, allowing the evidence that I was once a successful Pink Cadillac driving sales director in Mary Kay made me feel important. Did you hear that? Made ME feel. Yes, that's EGO all the way. Ego keeps you trapped in a place that does not want you to grow and succeed. Ego didn't want me to get free from the decision to leave a perfectly good business with a sound marketing plan to start my own business where I had nothing at its inception. You see, perhaps you've felt like I did and as a result your results are suffering because you are bound, bound to someone else's expectation for your business or perhaps your own. It's hard to focus on what is most important when your mind and space are cluttered with outside influences that are not enhancing the experiences of your ideal clients.

So how do you get free, Darnyelle? Well, I'm happy to share what worked for me when I finally did it. I got free.

1. Forget the past; it is over. Good, bad or indifferent, it's done. You can't go back there so free yourself from the clutter and move on. I acknowledged and owned the success I enjoyed while in Mary Kay and now I allow that success to keep me focused on the success of my current business. Clearly if I did it once, I can do it again. I believe that when you get sick and tired of looking at your past and do something about it, you can become the change you desire to see in your business. When your EGO flairs up (and it will) simply remind it that your past is the past for a reason; you stopped that business, ended that relationship, etc for a distinct reason. You have to get tired of telling yourself the stories that keep the past alive for you and when you do, you open yourself up to invite an Incredible future into your experience one that is filled with new products and services and creativity to grow to a new level.
2. Realign to your values, goals and vision for your business- a realignment is always good to assess, especially when you feel clutter impending your business success. I suggest revisiting your business and marketing plans and ensuring that they are sound. As I realigned my goals and completed my 2011-2013 strategic plan, I realized that the display had to go because I needed that space in my office to set up my recording area for all of the high content videos that I would be putting together for my lovely clients.
3. Eliminate distractions - when you get clear on the reasons why you started your business, suddenly the distractions that were once welcome will stick out like a sore thumb and begin to wreak havoc on your business. I made, dare I say it, a non-negotiable goal that I would focus on what I wanted to grow and eliminate all else and that included finally taking down the displays. I must say my basement (the location of my home office) is much bigger than I remember and I'm excited about the changes I will make with the space to grow my business.
4. Expect to shift - when you get free, I mean really free, you can expect a shift to occur in your mindset, in the way you work in your business and in the tolerance of future distractions that you allow to impede your progress. Somehow I think you will be like me and shift the way you work which will invite new clients, new products and services and new energy into your small business.

When you get FREE - your business will thrive, which means your life will thrive. Here's to getting free!

Walk it Out Wednesday - Darnyelle A. Jervey

Happy Walk it Out Wednesday. Today, I have one radical thought for you. Why not walk as if everything will go right, exactly as planned and work in your favor? In my PACE Method (r) I describe in detail the principles of an enthusiastic expectation.

"Expect great things and great things will happen." Mary Kay Ash

We spend way too much time in fear...assuming that the outcome is going to be less favorable. But there is no evidence to support that thought process. So today, Walk it Out Wednesday, walk as if all is well. Actually, it IS well.

How would your life change if today, you worked and walked like what you desire to do is already a success?

Be Incredible,
Darnyelle

Good Morning...Heartache?! Darnyelle A. Jervey - Speaker, Coach, Author

Before you give me a "what you talkin' 'bout Willis" look, let me explain. No, I'm not fresh off of watching Mahogany or listening to Diana belt out the lyrics to the song that many sing morning after morning with a connotation different than the one from which I write today.

On this Walk it Out Wednesday, I have a question for you. When you think about your gift (what you alone were created to do for this world,) does your heart ache for those who need it?

I mean, really. Stop and think as I share something with you. Mine does. I am delighted to greet each new day in excitement and with splendor oozing out of my pores. I am always in awe of what God is up to in my life. I start the day in gratitude and then recite many affirmations as I move to visualizing what I am expecting from the abundant universe in which I live. But many wake to discontent and confusion over their life prupose. They get up to go to jobs they hate but can't quit for fear of how the bills will get paid. They dread the morning commute and take a long time getting out of the car hoping that maybe one of the kids will be sick and they will have a reason not to enter into the walls that bind them to an existence of mediocrity.

Oh, how my heart aches for you. I mean, I being honest. I know how you feel. I use to feel the same way when I felt trapped in Corporate America. But what I found is that by defining and unleashing my Incredible Factor (my secret sauce, my special God-given gift) I could breakdown, breakout and breakthrough to the life I was created to live!

Am I talking to you this Walk it Out Wednesday? I want nothing more than for you to realize that who you are was not created for lack, scarcity or doubt. You were created for more than enough. A passion for work that feels more like play. A passion for the meaningful.

And it is still possible for you.

I'm releasing details real soon for Incredible Factor 101, my new empowerment challenge to prepare you for the life of your dreams. If you want to be included, got to my website and register for our weekly Ezine, The Incredible Factor. Visit now, http://www.incredibleoneenterprises.com

Get to Steppin' - Darnyelle A. Jervey, Speaker, Coach, Author

"We spend way to much time talking about and no time walking toward what we want in life."

What would happen if you actually began to walk toward what you want to bring into your life?

How would your life be different if your dream was not a figment of your imagination but within a few strategic steps?

What one small yet Incredible step can you take that would allow you to keep walking toward your goal?

I'm looking for a few walkers...a few who will commit to walking with me toward what they want....No Matter What. I guarantee that life will happen but those who want to walk with me will commit to the non-negotiable decision to keep walking despite the obstacles that present themselves. Remember, the only difference between a stumbling block and a stepping stone is how you use it. Will you take the Road Less Traveled with me? I love that Robert Frost poem. When you walk with me, it will make all the difference.

I know that 86% of you will allow your fear of failure to stop you dead in your tracks. I'm talking to the 14% of you who are ready to get what has been earmarked and reserved for you.

I'm lacing up my shoes now...are you?

1. Get clear on what you desire to bring into your life...complete a life description...
2. Write down your vision - 10 goals for your life on index cards to create flash cards that you will review each day.
3. Start each day in gratitude, powerful intenting and affirmation.
4. Determine the one, powerful, meaningful first step and create an action plan in preparation to take it.
5. WALK - There's a poem called Come to the Edge....when you come to the edge, I will push you and watch you grow your wings, land safely and walk into your destiny.

If you want to walk with me, complete a coaching consult request form on my website http://www.incredibleoneenterprises.com

Focus on the Deposits - Darnyelle A. Jervey Speaker, Coach, Author

"Focus on the Deposits, not the withdrawls." Darnyelle A. Jervey

Today is the last day of the 1st quarter of the new decade. How was it for you? Before you answer me, know that I don't want to hear all of the problems or setbacks you suffered. Why is it that when others ask us to "weigh in" on our progress, we immediately go to a place of deficit? YOUR PROMISE IS BIGGER THAN YOUR PROBLEMS. Now that you've shifted, what Incredible things happened for you this quarter?

When I am coaching a client, I always start each session by asking, what one exciting/good/Incredible thing happened and what are they most grateful for since our last session. Why? Because I don't want them to focus on the withdrawls of life.

Unfortunately, until you make a Non-negotiable decision that you are looking at life through incredible eyes, you will experience the fact that what you think about expands. I stopped watching TV because everywhere you turn the media is so focused on painting a picture that will depress you. Those debilitating thoughts of the economy, etc will keep you in a state of paranoia, wondering if your job will be the next to go. If you think like that, the thought will expand and you may find yourself counted in the unemployment statistic....Everyone seems to be focused on what we don't have...a strong economy, a booming real estate market, but WHAT ABOUT WHAT WE DO have - the deposits - HEALTH, STRENGTH, A HOME, A CAR, LOVED ONES, NEEDS MET. Sure, I could fix my mind around each of those things, which do not impact me and become discouraged, BUT I have chosen instead to focus on what I do have and can continue to enjoy in my life. Everything that you need you have it...it was deposited in you before you were formed in your mother's womb.

Don't you get bad news everyday? People are always trying to tell you what you cannot do, who you cannot be, what you cannot have. ENOUGH.

I have one simple question for you: What do YOU want?

Do you want the deposit or the withdrawl?

If you're thinking like I want you to think, you want the deposit, so I have a few quick painless tips that will help you to focus on the deposit so that you can invite more deposits into your life.

1. Minimize the amount of input you allow others to put into your experience. For example, If all you do is sit in front of CNN (or other news channel) all day, you are probably a pretty dismal individual. What value is CNN adding to your life? Life is not to be lived constantly looking over your shoulder or afraid to take the next step in your life or career/business.

2. Get clear on what you want and what it will take to get there.

3. Spend a minimum of 15 minutes each day doing positive life affirming activities: affirmations, reading something motivational, meditating, setting goals, developing a plan, writing in a gratitude journal, etc.

4. Hire a coach to help you to size it up and help to hold you accountable to the plan to begin focusing on the deposits.

5. Take a deep breath and as you exhale, picture your life as if you only experience deposits.

How does that feel?
I bet it feels Incredible!

It Aint Easy Being Green - Darnyelle A. Jervey Speaker, Coach, Author

I know, I know you see the title and you think, "Come on, Darnyelle, Kermit the Frog, really?"

Well, not exactly. Although today is the day after St. Patrick's Day and I was extremely busy yesterday, I wanted to write my blog based on what hit my heart this week. As a coach, I am blessed to work with a lot of amazing women. I also meet new women every week by completing coaching consultations with them. An overwhelming theme this week was feeling different, alone, like no body cares. If you feel this way, let me give you hope: I understand how you feel. There was a significant amount of time in my teens and 20's that I felt the same exact way but what I found is that when I sought mentors and embraced my differences and realized that I was born Incredible, everything in my life began to change.

For me it started when I sought my purpose and decided to live with passion. That led to my attitude changing and my confidence increasing and easily, as if fitting me like a glove, I began to expect Incredible things to enter and affect my life.

And so it was. You see, by giving up the desire to be like others and embracing who Darnyelle is and was created to do for this world, I realized that my color was purple - the color of royalty, after all I'm a child of the King. I quickly left green behind and followed my heart to a place that has elevated me to a level that is indicative of Big thoughts, Big Dreams and Bigger results, which will lead to a different shage of green, the green with dead presidents embedded.

The same is available to you.

If you are feeling anything like I use to feel, you may find yourself green with envy when you see others doing what you desire to do, getting the breaks you have been praying for and as a result, you get angry and become even more introverted. It's not easy being green - whether green is envious or different; however, when you embrace who you are and what gifts, talents and abilities you were born with, it makes it easier to love the you looking back at you in the mirror.

I use to spend my time mimicking those who had it going on. It wasn't easy. I mean seriously it was hard to try to get my hair the same exact way or to find the same exact outfit that they wore so effortlessly....I got very tired, real quick. I came to this not so startling revelation with the help of some powerful mentors and coaches (before I even really knew what coaching was) You were born an orginal, but being green will make you a copy...

what would change in your life if you focused as much attention on your dreams and desires as you focus on those of others?

We often only see or think of what glitters but my grandmother use to say, "everything that glitters ain't gold."

I invite you to embrace who you are. Get to know yourself. Get to a quiet place and reflect on what you've been given that makes you an original. It may not be easy being green, but it will be a lot easier being you.

If you are ready to stop being green and ready to play Big, Bold and get what's been earmarked and reserved for you, there's some FREE goodies waiting for you at http://www.incredibleoneenterprises.com.

You're Blind Baby - Darnyelle A. Jervey - Speaker, Coach, Author

I think it was Public Enemy who rapped the song, "You Can't See"...I woke up this morning and as I reflected on how grateful I am to be here experiencing so many Incredible things, I thought about each of you. In the song, Flava Flav and Chuck D sing "You can't see what I can see, you're blind baby, blind to the facts." And before you get mad at me for calling you blind, let me explain what I mean.

It's the first Walk it Out Wednesday in the last month of the first quarter of the new decade. Many of you got excited about the new year and set Big goals yet you can't really see them manifesting in your life. Many of you do things just because it seems cute or so that you don't stand out like a sore thumb. But you do stand out because you are wandering aimlessly through your life trying to do this and that without vision and purpose.

Stop.

Today, I encourage you to begin to give yourself a check up from the heart up - what is your life description? (similar to a job description, but for your entire life) What do you want for your family? Yourself? Your Career? Your Marriage or Relationship? What is that one thing that you want to be able to go to your death bed saying, but I did it?

If you keep meandering through life without a vision and a plan, you are blind. You may see others achieving and get jealous about what they have. What it seems like they are doing somehow appears to be exactly what you want YET you refuse to create a plan for the vision so that you too can enjoy it.

We live in an abundant universe and there is a generous portion waiting for you when you begin to see. What's holding you back?

Heller Keller says, "there's nothing more pathetic than a person with sight but no vision." Einstein says "imagination is more important than fact." Proverbs says, "without vision, the people perish."

You will die if you don't begin to see.

Open your blinded eyes and for the first time this year, See. See who you are. See whose you are. See that you are bigger than your problems, See that you are a solution, see that anything is possible. See what is possible for you and then write it down. Check your vision by creating a written account of what you desire to bring into your experience.

Join us tonight at 6 pm EST for step by step coaching on your Check Up from the Heart Up. http://www.blogtalkradio.com/aimwd or 347.324.5086.

Don't Get It Twisted - Darnyelle A. Jervey, Speaker, Coach, Author

As I began to write this blog and selected the title, the song that immediately popped into my head was Beyonce's "Irreplaceable." In a part of the song, she says "you've got me twisted." Another song I thought of immediately after that was Keith Sweat and Cut Klose's song titled, "Got Me Twisted."

Why does any of that matter. Well today, I want to share tips for those of you who are twisted in some way about who you are, who you are to become and what you were created to do.

When I say twisted, what do I mean? Confused. Bamboozled. Unworthy. Fearful. Unfulfilled. Sad. Existing instead of living. Surviving instead of thriving.

I was at a networking event a few weeks back and I was talking to a gentleman and telling him what I do. He was very intrigued and he asked if I have a lot of clients who are willing to admit that they are twisted or confused on their purpose. I told him yes, I do meet a lot of women who require skills, strategies and solutions to untwist their purpose to give their life meaning.

That really stuck out to me. Many women don't admit their hurt and pain, they suffer in silence because they feel that "nobody knows the trouble I've seen." Another song, guess I'm feeling the music today. The key here - I can stop and dance because I am clear.

What stands out to me more than anything is that so many women as so busy surviving each day and taking care of everyone else, going to work to put food on the table, crying themselves to sleep because they are completely unfulfilled and nobody cares about their needs that they are consistently twisting themselves into knots that are not being untangled so that they can be released to enjoy life.

John 10:10 says that God sent His son that we might have life and have it more abundantly. Please tell me which definition of abundance calls for twisting and entanglements. If I am speaking to your spirit right now, STOP.

Do not pass go. Do not collect $200. Stop. Take a deep breath of integrity and be honest with yourself, you are twisted, conflicted and confused about many things most of which is your purpose. But there's hope. It can change as soon as you let it.

1. Get to a quiet place and repeat these words until you feel a calm and peace overtake you: I'm sorry, please forgive. I Love you. Thank You. You are not only saying these words to yourself, but you are also saying them to the creator of your soul for mismanaging the gift He gave you.

2. Answer this question: Why am I twisted? Unfulfilled? Suffering in silence? - be honest with yourself.

3. Make a Decision to get untwisted. Hire a coach, set up an action plan and get to work. As soon as you make a non-negotiable deision the untwisting begins.

4. Celebrate yourself each day, big or small, celebrate. It's the little things that add up to the unassailable difference.

5. Never look back. Most of our twisting occurs because we focus on the past. As I say, "Stop giving your past permission to speak." If you are in a place that you don't want to be, acting in haste may not resolve it. Build a bridge, make an exit strategy and get to your destiny place.

It may not be easy but I guarantee it will be worth it.

So don't get it twisted, get clear and focus on you. Even on an airplane the flight attendant tells you to secure your mask before helping those traveling with you.

Repreat after me:
I am beautiful. I am God's creation. I was created for a purpose. I was created for abundance. I'm worthy of love, respect and "me" time. I deserve to be fulfilled. I am Incredible. I desire to be clear about who I am and how to live a fulfilled life and I am ready to get what I need to make it a reality and not just words that sound good.

Be Incredible,
Coach Darnyelle

5 Reasons to Develop a Brand Board

"Your brand is your word; your bond, your signature, it's your way of establishing yourself in the marketplace." Darnyelle A. Jervey

Last evening, I spoke at a NJAWBO Dinner Meeting on the topic of How to Build An Incredible Brand and it was a fabulous talk and a great bunch of ladies and a gentleman who are all ready to burn the box and establish their definitive position in the marketplace. What I realized is that so many people are unconscious about their brand and that is a big problem. How in the world are you going to be effective in your industry if you have not established your brand?

The way I see it, there are 7 steps to developing your brand; but I want to focus on only one step today and that is the planning step and the development of a brand board.

For your records, the 7 steps to building an Incredible Brand are See (the Incredible), Inspect (the Incredible), Attract (the Incredible), Speak (the Incredible), Dream (the Incredible), Plan (the Incredible) and Unleash (the Incredible).

Again, for the purpose of today's blog, I am focusing on Step 6 - Plan (the Incredible Brand). They way I see the planning process working is to recognize that writing it down gives it validity. As long as the concept stays in your mind, it has the potential to dissipate because we are bombarded with thoughts every second of every day that come and go as quickly as they came or went. But what gets attended to gets done so if we take the time to write down what we want our brand to represent, it is more likely to occur.

The key to an Incredible brand is strategic thought-provoking concepts and images that clearly articulate the personification of your brand. So for all intents and purposes, the planning process of building an Incredible brand Will be realize via a branding board.

Not to be confused with a vision board, a brand board is similar and equally important to the purpose minded person, that is whether you run your own company or work in someone else's company but have a vested interest in ensuring that the image your portray speaks to the brand you are establishing for yourself.

We all know that our thoughts become things and the things that we think about and/or visualize happen in our lives whether we focus on them or not. So if we strategically use that energy in our favor the production of our brand will be Incredible!

Now, here's the thing: branding starts in your mind. In the conception phase of brand development, your thoughts create power and power is transformed into the representation of who you are and/or want to be viewed as in the marketplace. Also remember that branding is personal; you cannot find someone else's brand and copy it because then it is not authentic and people will be able to see right through that. You must follow the 7 steps to building an Incredible Brand and find your message, because you alone have a message that is yours and yours alone. Truthfully, if I try to steal someone else's brand, it won't work for my anyway because what God has for you is yours and no one else can have it. At best, you can only be a good copy of someone else or you can be the original, which is worth far more when inspected for intrinsic value.

Also keep in mind, that your logo is not your brand. Your logo should be a continuation of your brand but it is not the brand itself. The development of your brand is strategic and interdependent to everything about you, the company and the product(s) that you offer. That is why this process of development is so essential to ensure that you take the time to develop a succinct concept that has longevity in the marketplace.

So, here are 5 of the reasons to build a brand board:
1. To get a clear understanding of you, your product or service. When we take the time to write down our goals, they become clearer and easier to attain. Clarity helps us to answer questions like: what do I want people to think of when they hear my name, my company's name or see my logo, business card, advertisement, etc. If you don't know the answer to this question, take the time to go through all 7 steps and at the end your brand will be clear to you. Also, ask yourself what is the one word, you want people to say resoundingly when you are brought up in conversation.

If you haven't figured it out yet, my word is....say it with me....Incredible!

2. To line up your vision for your life with what you want others to see, think or feel when they are in your presence and or thinking of you. This is where it is important that your vision board and your brand board connect. They are interdependent upon one another. You cannot have a brand without vision and if you have vision, you will most certainly have a brand.

3. To have a visual reminder of your signature to carry with you every where you go. Remember that our thoughts become things so when we visualize what we want our brand to mean to us and others, it will happen. It's the law of attraction!

4. To be a strategic representation of your company's core competencies, values and mission to serve your customer's in the best possible way. If there is no company, then how will your message be a representation of you core competencies? Remember, branding is not just for the entrepreneur. Think about it; people you know who are always late, you think of that first when you think of them and therefore tell them a time that is at least a half an hour earlier than the actual start time because their brand is to arrive tardy...right? You get my point.

5. To clearly identify the differentiation between you and others in your industry. Oftentimes the only thing that separates your from others is what your brand says about your levels of service and commitment to Incredible Customer Satisfaction. So developing a brand that speaks to all aspects of you, your company, your product or service and your reputation, is terribly important.

There are also 7 P's to make sure that your brand exemplifies:

1. Positive - I think this is pretty self explanatory. You want others to feel warm and fuzzy when they think of you, your company or see your logo.

2. Polished - So important. Think about those people who you ask at a networking event what they do and they stammer on for 20 minutes because they are not even sure! You want it to be polished and precise so that in a minutes notice, or better yet just seeing you starts to tell others about your Incredible brand.

3. Prompt - timeliness is next to Incredibleness. Enough said. okay, I will say one more thing, you brand must be on time. Customers may be late but you, never it is a sin!

4. People-oriented - You are not an island so you need to learn how to invite others into your brand. Remember we are talking about fertilizer and not weedkiller. You want to Attract the Incredible to you...they will expand your reach and build an Incredible circle of potential and influence for your brand.

5. Planned - what gets attended to gets done. Prior planning prevents poor performance.

6. Persistent - and consistent. I should see it everywhere without it feeling stalker-esque. Seriously, it needs to be pleasantly persistent and confident so that others can see the value of your brand and invest in it for themselves.

7. Powerful - power will ensure that you become the product or service of choice for those who want what you have; power is a quiet storm. You may not always hear it coming but it empowers you to be better, stronger, Incredible!

For illustration purposes, a copy of my brand board is attached.

There's work to be done

"If you know your purpose, you shouldn't be sitting down; that is the sign of finished work. If your purpose has been set, there's much to do." Darnyelle A. Jervey

Why in the world are you here? Have you figured it out? Have you even begun to think about what your place on this earth was secured to do? If not, I invite you to start to give it significant thought. Here's the thing, until you know why you are here, you will wander aimlessly. How will you know that you;'ve arrived at your destination if you have no clue why and when you are to go? Meandering through life is for the birds, and I believe that even the birds understand their purpose and work diligently each day in their created purpose.

So many people, because they lack definitive purpose, are straying from what they were called to do. They are trying to take the freeway and are straddling multiple lanes; all they are really doing is perpetuating a serious accident! The key is to try a lot of things while looking inward to find what you love and would do for free. I promise you that if you would do it for free, there are people who would pay you to do it for them! But that process of Inspecting the Incredible that I am talking about in just about every blog is so key to understanding your purpose and deciding which lane is yours on the freeway of life. You get to find your purpose! Get excited; it is about the realization of what makes you tick, where you feel comfortable and where your home is. It's not about what anyone else thinks that you were created to do; it's all about you....

Upon receiving the revelation, it is imperative that you acquire significant vision. Helen Keller says "there is nothing more pathetic then one who has sight yet has no vision." So, you must start to do as one of my favorite books says "begin with the end in mind." (The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People Covey) So, how do you propose I do that, Darnyelle. I am glad you asked. I believe in the power of visualization and thoughts that lead to the things we want in our life. Another one of my favorite books says "we have not because we ask not and if any man ask and believes and doesn't doubt that he will receive what he asked for, it shall be given to him." So, we need to put it out there exactly how we want it and I believe a great way to do that is by using a vision board. I will include a picture of mine for your review. I use a cork board, because I think it makes it easier to make updates/modifications when necessary. Remember, burn the box, gone are the days of glue sticks and arts and crafts!

With a set vision, you will help your thoughts turn into the things that you would like to have in your life. Everything on your vision board should not be materialistic, if there are things about your personality that you'd like to modify, put them on your board as well.

The key is this, find your purpose, you will find your passion and then naturally you will get busy working because it won't seem like work. You won't be found sitting down in front of the television trying to figure out what is happening on the reality show du jour, you will be busy working, walking into your vision and realizing that there is much to do becauce your purpose has been set and people need what you were created to do.

Be Incredible,
Darnyelle

The Man in the Mirror

'I'm starting with the man in the mirror. I'm asking him to change his ways. No message could have been any clearer, if you want to make the world a better place, take a look at yourself and make a change." Michael Jackson

I, too, have decided to start with the woman in the mirror....in fact, I start with her every morning and I ask myself, "who can I help today so that God gets the glory and I live my purpose?" I think that we rush through life and forget to take the time to examine ourselves and ensure that we are being authentic and effectively using integrity and service as our most powerful character trait.

When I started Incredible One Enterprises, I developed a lot of "Incredible-isms" to illustrate the steps I believe are necessary to operate an Incredible life. One of those steps/principles, is the concept I aptly titled 'Inspect the Incredible' or completing that all important self-assessment. I can't remember which rap group and song says "check yourself before you wreck yourself," but that is exactly what comes to mind when I think of Michael Jackson's song and my concept of Inspecting the Incredible.

It is so important to take a look at your life and make sure that who you are is who you want to be and who others see you as is who you want to be seen as. Now, I am not suggesting that you allow others opinions of you to carry too much weight, but I do believe that you can tell a tree (a pillar of society that offers nourishment and strength) by the fruit it bears and of course you alredy know that if you are going to bear fruit, I think it should be passion fruit!

So how often do I complete this "Inspect the Incredible" step, Darnyelle? The simple answer is as often as you feel the need but minimally, I believe that each quarter or as the seasons change, we need to begin by inspecting ourselves. Each season in our life brings new challenges and rewards and having the personal stability to weather the seasons is essential to the Incredible You.

What do I do when I am "Inspecting the Incredible," Darnyelle? To borrow/rearrange a line from a Smokey Robinson hit, "Tracks of My Tears," "Take a good look at your face but if your smile is out of place, look closer and start to trace what needs to change in order for that frown to become a smile again. I think that being honest with yourself and asking yourself those tough questions like, "what do I hear about me from other people?, who do I think that I am? Am I successful at creating a brand that speaks to who I believe God created me to be?, etc. is a good place to start. I would also like to point out getting my 2nd book, The Incredible You can help as I included a detailed, thought provoking self-assessment in the book and my readers are telling me that it was just what they needed to finally define and unleash the Incredible inside.

There is so much more to Inspecting the Incredible....determining if your life bears fruit is so essential and of course, you've got to ask yourself if you are fertilizer or weed killer....adding or subtracting value....keeping relationships with people who are where you want to be and pulling you up versus bringing you down....keeping a positive attitude...speaking life affirming words over yourself and others....I could go on and on....

I think you get my point.

Grab a mirror and get started. We will all be glad that you did.

Be Incredible,
Darnyelle
