5 Simple Steps to Building your Personal Development Plan--Darnyelle A. Jervey

If you were to survey 100 six and seven figure entrepreneurs, I’m almost positive that over 85% of them would say that among their secret weapons to success, includes taking time away from working in their business to spend time on personal development.

I can recall when I was an employee and the company I worked for made it part of our goals and performance appraisal to spend a specific amount of time each year to grow personally.

Let's be clear, growth in business is contingent upon growth in life. They are connected and to make a commitment to your personal growth and development is a catalyst for an amazing business transformation.

My personal recommendation is to get away from your day to day business activities every 90 days, or once a quarter. That way you can gain clarity and perspective from others. This will help you shift what must be shifted in your business so your next quarter is massively productive.

So, I have another recommendation for you. I recommend that you create a personal development plan because I know “what gets attended to gets done”.

Think about a simple trip to the grocery store...when you have a list, you're focused and on purpose and purchase only what is on your list. When you do not take the time to plan for your trip and hit the store "willy nilly" you buy a whole bunch of stuff that you already have or don't really need. I'm sure that the same happens for you. So to ensure that you don't attempt to grow your business "willy nilly" creating a personal development plan will help to ensure that you will actually get what you need to achieve your business goals and reach your next level.

In preparation for 2012, let's create your first or next personal development plan:

1. Get clear about your year's business growth goal. Get to a quiet place and list what you would like to accomplish over the next year. What is your income goal? What is your client goal? What products or events do you want to create and launch?

2. Determine what you will need to achieve the goals you listed. What training, guidance, mentorship, etc… are needed to achieve these goals?

3. List the people (mentors, coaches, seminar leaders, joint venture partners, etc.) you would like to help you achieve your goals this coming year. Visit their websites and find out what they're offering that could meet your needs. Find out the dates when they are holding an event that you can participate in.

4. Create your plan by taking a sheet of paper and making four quadrants, one for each quarter and list all of the options you found to develop personally throughout the next year. List them all and then go back and pick the four that will best suit your business goals. Or, you can find a mentor and join their mastermind program, most masterminds offering quarterly mastermind retreats every 90 days.

5. Make a non-negotiable decision to complete your plan in the next year. When you do, I am very confident that your business growth will have increased as a result of your personal growth.

5 simple steps that lead to more successful selling conversations--Darnyelle A. Jervey

Let’s be clear; it is as honorable to sell as it is to buy. Even though most business owners are aware of this fact, they still struggle with asking the most important question after the solution has been presented to the problem their ideal prospect has. Now that question, which can take many forms boils down to this: when would you like to get started? Some might say that asking it that way is too blunt and I’d say that they are chicken, not fully convinced of the value they add and clear that they are THE solution that their prospects need to once and for all solve the problem.

I recognize that selling occurs every day and somehow most would say that it’s easier if money doesn’t have to change hands. I say, why? You can convince your spouse that the movie you desire to see is somehow better than the one they desire to see but you can’t show your prospects that the solution you offer is better than the others offered in the marketplace and that they should pay you to get access to it? I’m not buying it and hopefully you won’t either as you learn my simple steps for helping to make your selling conversations more successful.

1. Set an intention before your conversation. Get quiet and clear and see yourself closing the sale and welcoming a new client into your business. What will it feel like when they enroll in your program and pay your well positioned rates? Write that positive, life affirming feeling in your journal. Start your conversation by expressing your gratitude for them wanting to meet with you. Keep your energy high and assume the answer will be yes.
2. Gain a clear understanding of the problem they are experiencing and help them to understand why they need to solve it now. Is the problem costing them money? Use a portion of the conversation to show them how much the problem is costing them so they can feel a sense of urgency to find a solution. Hint: you’re the solution!
3. Transition them from pain to promise by highlighting your solution for them with clear, measurable results NOT step-by-step processes. They want to know what they can expect when the problem has been solved not the exact way you’re going to solve it. You will lose them in translation if you don’t focus on the outcome, transformation, overall benefit or results.
4. Ask them for the sale. After you’ve walked them through your best option for them, the option that encapsulates their problem with the best possible solution in the most reasonable amount of time so that the solution is clear, experienced and no longer a hindrance, ask them if they are ready to stop the pain. While you may not use those exact words, you must use that level of conviction and confidence that in your solution lies their redemption.
5. Celebrate your new client. Collect their payment information, celebrate their decision and start solving their problem so you can get a killer testimonial or success story to bring more new clients into your business.

Selling is as honorable as buying and when you start with these simple tips, you will find yourself closing more sales and welcoming more new clients into your growing business. They’re waiting on your solution, it’s time you unleashed it!

4 Ways to Avoid Being a Commodity So You Get Paid for Your Incredible Factor--Darnyelle A. Jervey

1. Stop competing
Because you have clearly identified your ideal client (your audience of one) there is no need for you to compete with anyone else also in your industry. As an example, there are thousands of marketing coaches but few of them focus on mindset, marketing and money-making strategy the way that Darnyelle does.

By defining and unleashing your Incredible Factor, delivering your “Secret Sauce” and “Signature Business Move” to your ideal client and marketing your Incredible Factor Signature System, you are no longer going to blend in with the crowd. Instead, you are going to stand way out and get more people to take notice to the way you offer results for your clients.

2. Say you specialize
Tell people, “I specialize in…” when talking about your services. People are accustomed to giving more respect to specialists. You’ll automatically have more authority when you describe yourself in this way. And, it helps them to understand the investment it will take to work with you because they expect to pay a specialist more.

3. Raise your fees
Regardless of what you are charging now, it’s probably not enough. So raise your fees. Whatever your highest rate was, it is now your lowest. Take a deep breath.

You may opt to allow current clients to continue at their current rates and raise your fees only for your new clients.

4. Ask every client for a testimonial or success story
If someone experiences a breakthrough because of you, ask them to put it in writing, in audio or on video. Make it a point to ask for the testimonial as soon as they experience a breakthrough. You can ask them if you can use what they told you over the phone or would they like to send you a formal testimonial.

When highlighting your clients via testimonials, always ask if you can feature them. A “feature” allows them to be prominently displayed via your website for all of your website visitors to see, which is a win-win. You win because they are singing your work’s praises; they win because they may attract clients and prospects to their products and services.

Assignment:
1. Step 1: List all of the ways that you stand out from your peers in your industry:
2. Step 2: How can you create marketing materials that highlight how you stand out?
3. Step 3: Do your products and services focus on how you stand out? If not what adjustments are necessary?
4. Step 4: How would your clients say that you stand out? Ask every client you’ve worked with this year for a testimonial

5 Reasons Why They Won’t Buy and Simple Strategies to Sell More Starting Today--Darnyelle A. Jervey

I received a question recently from a follower in Los Angeles and she wanted to understand why, despite all of her networking, she wasn’t selling anyone into her programs. She was confused because she was out 3 days a week networking with people she perceived to be her ideal client yet no one wanted to learn more or work privately with her.

Sadly, this happens to tons of entrepreneurs who haven’t quite successfully learned how to share who they are and what they have to offer in a way that leads to a closed sale. To help those of you who feel like my follower, I compiled my list of the top five reasons why they won’t buy from you:

1. They don’t understand what you’re offering. You’re most likely so concerned about the bells and whistles that you forgot to tell them the results. As I’ve heard it said many times, “features tell, but results sell.” You haven’t done a good job of highlighting the problem that will be solved by your solution. You’ve also not shared the solution in a compelling, results oriented way to indicate what they can expect if they work with you. To change this, focus on the results and benefits, not the steps or features. A feature is 30 minute calls but dig deeper, what will happen for them in that 30 minute call that will change their life and solve their problem?

2. They don’t understand the value. You’re most likely not helping then to understand that they need it. You’re not explaining the value in a way that makes them want it, which means for them, it’s not relevant. You have to make them want it. The best way to create desire is to get clear about what they need to solve their problem and use their words to convey the true value for investing with you right now.

3. They don’t believe you. In this instance, you’re likely talking to hear yourself talk; which means that there is no proof to substantiate your claims. Social proof is essential if you want to attract more ideal clients. How do you get social proof? Ask for testimonials and success stories from those who’ve worked with you and got a result, especially a result that you’re boasting to others who should work with you.

4. They think they can buy it anytime. You’re likely not illustrating a sense of urgency in your approach, helping them to understand how significant the problem is and counting the cost of the problem for them. If you’re not helping them to see that the longer they wait to solve the problem the more it will cost them (time, energy, money, frustration, stress, etc.) and they’re not likely to budge. To change this, figure out what the pain is costing them and show them that by working with you, the pain will stop and they will make money, save money, save time, reduce effort and/or increase happiness and fulfillment.

5. They don’t believe that working with you will truly solve their problem. This one really doesn’t have much to do with you; it’s tied to their mindset that they’re problem is too great to even bother trying to solve it. Truthfully, in this case, they don’t believe that even with your help they can do it. To help them here, you have to listen and reassure them based on the results you’ve gotten for other clients.

Your marketing (online or offline) must solve these five problems each and every time so that more prospects will be interested in going to the next step with you. If you fail to do so, you can forget being able to add more clients to your roster. But it can change as soon as you make compelling marketing a priority for your business.

Your assignment:

1. Contact previous clients and ask them for a success story or testimonial.

2. Re-write your program offerings based on results not features and memorize it for your selling conversations.

3. Create a bonus structure that allows them to gain more value only when they make a decision within the next 24 hours to work with you.

5 Simple Strategies to Choose Brand Building Associations-Darnyelle A. Jervey

When you first enter the marketplace as an entrepreneur or you seek to reinvent your business, it can be overwhelming to realize everything that goes into effective brand development and management. When you consider the fact that everything you do consciously or unconsciously affects your brand, it becomes increasingly important to make sure that each experience is one that will enhance your brand and bring you closer to achieving brand equity.

Brand equity is the power a brand earns over time based on the experience, reputation and name recognition it gains, which translates into more clients, more income and more freedom. You earn brand equity by building your brand consciously and actively. By delivering what you said you would plus more to create an emotional response with your clients or customers. You increase your brand positioning when your clients refer their friends and family to you because they know you, like you and more than anything, they trust you.

Beware; however, one false association can stop your brand building in its tracks. With social media bringing the world closer than ever before, it is so easy to get caught up with people who appear to be exactly what your brand needs to bloom. I caution you, however, to not get sidetracked; but to instead validate the association before you find yourself tangled in a web that is not going to add any equity to your brand.

Entrepreneurs attract entrepreneurs and something that appears too good to be true might just be. So to mitigate the risk to your brand, do your due diligence and research anyone who is asking to partner with you because they believe that together you can change the world. Don’t get me wrong, you might actually be able to change the world together, but you just want to be sure that the change is going to be positive, brand affirming and a win-win for all parties involved, especially your clients.

To help you create relationships that will build your brand, consider these simple strategies:

1. If you’re considering joining forces with someone, try them out first. Make sure that their message completely resonates with your message. Join their mailing list. Follow them on Twitter to see what they are tweeting about. Attend one of their events; get on one of their tele-seminars, etc. Validate that if you hang out with them, you will feel natural, like you are hanging out with yourself.

2. Be sure that you can answer why your brand and theirs is a good fit.

3. Research them. Check Google to see what the world has to say about them. Do you like what you read? While some argue if one bad apple really spoils the whole bunch, others argue that one bad apple makes you think the rest of the apples are bad too.

4. Make sure that they are already gathering your ideal clients together but their product or service doesn’t compete with yours. You want to ensure that any strategic partnerships or relationships enhance and complement one another.

5. Interview them. Ask them hypothetical scenarios to get a firm understanding of where they are on the topics that matter most to you and your clients.

When you choose to utilize these simple strategies to create effective, brand building relationships, your brand will become an Incredible One.

Describing Your Incredible Factor for Results-Darnyelle A. Jervey

Many of you have heard it said on numerous occasions that "life & death lie in the power of the tongue." I certainly subscribe to this statement. And what's more, how you describe your gifts and talents to others is a direct correlation to giving your Incredible Factor life or eulogizing it.

Think about it. When you get the chance to introduce yourself to someone, what do you say and more than that, how do you say it? Do you take the opportunity to celebrate your success, or do you downplay your accomplishments because you don't want to appear "self-centered"? Invest in a coach or mentor to show you how to describe who you are so that it produces profit. I'm available to help you turn your passion into a profit when you are ready to play BIG.

Are you using the power of your tongue to describe your Incredible Factor so others see you as the ONLY solution to their growing problem?

I work with many clients and when they come to me, they are so unsure of how to describe their Incredible Factor in a way that creates clients, income and freedom. I'm going to share with you exactly what I share with them. Many of them are "gun shy" when it comes to highlighting their success for others.

Let me put it this way, if your Incredible Factor's purpose is to create income on a full or part time basis, then you've got to get clear on exactly how to describe what you do so others see you as the only solution and prepare to take action to get you to solve their problem. Here are my tips:

1. Focus on the benefits you offer and the solutions you provide and NOT the actual process you take clients through. If you focus on anything other than the results you provide, you are being self-centered and even though you are talking about your Incredible Factor, it's about them, not you. You already know you're the bomb but because they do not, you may self-destruct. We want others to feel the impact of your explosion. Trust me, it works.

2. Determine exactly who benefits from your product or service, that's right, I'm talking about identifying your ideal client. Not knowing this is a serious mistake. If you are naive enough to believe that you help everyone, that may be why your Incredible Factor is not paying off in the form of clients or income. You must identify the one exact person who has the problem that you solve and who is ready to spend money RIGHT NOW to solve it. Period. Anyone else who hears you describe your Incredible Factor and takes action is butter.

3. Create a power statement that includes: your company name, the problem you've identified, your gift, those who benefit from your gift and the problem you solve. Use the following formula to ensure it is widely effective: I help X do Y so that they can Z. x=ideal client, y=problem you solve, z=the result they achieve.

4. Have a client success story that illustrates results ready should time permit. I recommend making it one with quantitative results. Remember the 5 motivators and ensure that the problem you solve and the success story you choose touches on at least one.

5. Be passionate and enthusiastic. If you can't get excited about Your Incredible Factor don't expect anyone else to.

Once you are done describing your Incredible Factor, ask them what they do and ask them what challenges they are currently facing. Listen to determine if you can solve their problem. If you can, speak up!

5 Keys for Being More Authentic in Business - Darnyelle A. Jervey

5 Keys for Being Authentic in Business

When you're a new entrepreneur, it is easy to see others doing what you desire to do and decide that the best thing to do is copy them. I do not recommend that because the grass is seldom greener on the other side. If we just learn how to consistently water our own grass, we will soon have grass that is just as green. The same holds true in business. Instead of trying to be like your competition, get MAD - make authentic decisions about the way you will operate your business.

I recommend that you take some time to "Inspect the Incredible," or complete a self-assessment, business plan review and strategic outline of your business goals and assess why you started your business, what makes you different.

Your Incredible Factor (your secret sauce, signature business move, unique selling proposition and hot undeniable gift all rolled up into a yummy client magnetic package) is the first clue that will enable you to serve your ideal clients despite what's happening on the other side.

To grow your business in true authenticity, I recommend the following tips and you should complete this process every 90 days in your business to ensure that you are always being authentic to your purpose, gifting, goals and objectives and ideally your customers.

  1. Clarify the reason why you started your business. Your "why" is not about you; it should be about those who will benefit from your gift. If, when you ask yourself why you are in business you say, "to make money;" "to increase my lifestyle," or "to show my naysayers that I could do it," you've missed the point and should get a job as you will never achieve your goals when you are selfish-minded and narrow-focused.
  2. Ensure that your gifting is completely innate in you. As an entrepreneur, you will trade working 8 hours a day for someone else for working 24 hours a day for yourself, so be sure that your gift is innate and you could do it all the time, without break because you will have to.
  3. Surround yourself with people who support and edify you. It will get tough and having the right circle of influence will make the difference. You should evaluate your circle as often as needed to make sure you always have the right mix directly next to you and your goals. Don't be afraid to let friends go. Everyone is not for every season and you have lives to change and it's very challenging with lots of dead weight.
  4. Set authentic goals. You want to be sure that your goals resonate with you on the deepest level- in your core. Set goals you can't wait to achieve, illustrating a desire to do whatever it takes to make them happen. Ensure that the goals you set for yourself and your business correspond to a problem that needs to be solved in the marketplace. It should be a problem you can solve easily and effortlessly because the solution is innate in you. This, my friend is authentic business at its best.
  5. Establish a vision statement, a mission statement, a brand statement and a power statement you can share openly, easily and effortlessly as needed. This will ensure that others understand the value you offer to the marketplace through your authenticity.

Before you can get to the profits and loss of doing business, you should be clear that the business you endeavor to offer to the marketplace not only resonates with you on the deepest levels but it authentically solves a problem. If you solve a problem with your gifts and talents, your business will profit - not only you, but those you serve.

4th Quarter Comeback - Darnyelle A. Jervey - Author, Speaker, Coach

4th Quarter Comeback: How to Position Your Incredible Factor to Play BIG

It's the first week of the final quarter of the year and many of you are panicking. You're panicking because you've been playing small all year and now that it's time to pay the piper, you're trying to figure out how to make this thing [your business] work. Let me clarify what I mean by playing small: playing small occurs when you are not enacting your divine purpose and serving others in a big way. I have a few other examples of playing small indicated below:

1.You set a goal to grow your business this year by 25% in new clients, yet you've not learned or implemented any new marketing strategies to attract new clients. 2.You knew that in order to go to the next level in your business you needed a coach, yet you've convinced yourself that you could encourage, motivate and offer accountability to yourself.
3.You know that you have a big message that the world needs and opportunities keep presenting themselves and you are still sitting still because they're not showing up the way you thought they would.
4.You keep making excuses instead of plans in any facet of your business development.

As you can see and feel, playing small is a place of comfort and if you want your Incredible Factor to play big, you must get uncomfortable. There are still almost 3 full months left in this year and there are still tons of strategies that you could implement to grow your business by 25% this year if you get up, get out and take action. Here are tips to help you make the most of your fourth quarter:

1.Review your goals. Take a close look at what you planned to do this year. Determine which goals, if any, need to be reconfigured and make a non-negotiable decision to recommit to working hard and taking calculated, consistent action over the next 85 days.
2.Breakdown the big goal into smaller pieces so that they feel doable. As an example, if you still need to gain 20 new clients this year and you've already gotten 5, that leaves 15 with 13 weeks left in this year, that equates roughly to 1 new client each week, and if you on average talk to 3 prospects to get one client, begin to schedule five prospect calls/meetings each week so that you can boost your results.
3.Go back through the list of people who've expressed interest in working with you. Pick up the phone and follow up, one more time. Prepare to remind them of the problem you solve and illustrate why working with you is exactly what THEY need to begin 2011 in the perfect position.
4.Plan, Plan, Plan - complete a weekly marketing plan on Monday, 1st thing when you enter your office each week. AND plan each work day in advance. Before you close the door and turn off the light, take 15 minutes to plan the following day so that you don't have to "hit the ground running" the next morning. Doing so will restore your confidence in achieving your goals and create a plan of implementation so that you can do what must be done to hit your 4th quarter comeback goals.
5.Shift your circle of influence. Other the next 85 days, commit to spending time with people who are where you want to be. No Incredible SNATCHERS, No weeds, only fertilizer. Your seed must be surrounded by light to grow so find some light - hire a coach; invest in a mentor. Turn off the television during the work day and give your business the same respect you once gave your job. When you commit to give yourself what you gave your boss, you will start to comeback!
6.Affirm your business goals. I recommend you write your revised 4th quarter comeback goals in positive, present tense on index cards and at the start of each day, review them before you begin your work for the day. 7.Take action - do what must be done each day so that you can wake up on January 1 ecstatic that you accomplished your 2010 goals and are ready to exceed them in the new year.

Your year long setback has set you up for a BIG comeback if you take action now!

Walk it Out Wednesday - Darnyelle A. Jervey

Happy Walk it Out Wednesday. Today, I have one radical thought for you. Why not walk as if everything will go right, exactly as planned and work in your favor? In my PACE Method (r) I describe in detail the principles of an enthusiastic expectation.

"Expect great things and great things will happen." Mary Kay Ash

We spend way too much time in fear...assuming that the outcome is going to be less favorable. But there is no evidence to support that thought process. So today, Walk it Out Wednesday, walk as if all is well. Actually, it IS well.

How would your life change if today, you worked and walked like what you desire to do is already a success?

Be Incredible,
Darnyelle

Don't Stradle the Fence - Darnyelle A. Jervey, Speaker, Coach, Author

A few years back I use to hear this song on the gospel station called, "You Can't Stradle the Fence," and as I was preparing today's blog, that song came rushing back to me.....

For all intents and purposes, I'm, of course, referring to your Incredible Factor. And your Incredible Factor cannot stradle the fence - either your gift adds value or it takes away from the value in others (I guess you could argue if it does the latter then it's not a gift!) It cannot do both and you shouldn't want it to.

As you are out and about "doing you" take the time to ensure that every interaction adds value...your Incredible Factor (brand, gift) doesn't get a day off. ...Be authentic, people can see through your fakeness a mile away. Be genuine, smile, laugh, have fun, play up your passion and engage fully in every interaction as if the person with whom you speak has a sign that says "Make me feel Incredible," Apply your gift consistently and watch your followers and interactions grow because who you are is consistent and others are getting to know, like and trust who you are and the gift you offer to the world.

So to prevent your Incredible Factor from Stradling the Fence,

1. Get clear about the gift you offer to world
2. Review your daily activities and assess what activities are inconsistent to your gift
3. Make a non-negotiable decision to make adjustments where appropriate
4. Enroll the help of a coach to help define and unleash your Incredible Factor

Still stradling the fence, no worries. I have a solution coming for you real soon that will help you leverage your Incredible Factor and go from passion to profit when you get clear and systematize what it will take to share your gift with the world. In the mean time, get your F.R.E.E. copy of my CD "how to Use Your Increddible Factor to Quantum Leap in Life & Business" on this page or my company website: http://www.incredibleoneenterprises.com

Oprah, Naomi and the Incredible Factor - Darnyelle A. Jervey - Speaker, Coach, Author

Recently, I was watching Oprah and she had SuperModel Naomi Campbell on the show. Naomi talked of many things that have transpired in her life but what stood out the most to me was:
1. She had a desire to find an inner peace and beauty that matched her outer beauty. (Her Incredible Factor)

How many of us could say that this is also what plagues you? There was definitely a time in my life when I could - about 8 years ago to be exact. To the outside world, much like that of Naomi's , I had it going on but inside, where it counts, it was dark, desolate and scary. I was afraid of truly becoming that which I really desired to be.

So what changed?

I got to know the lover of my soul and in that process many things about myself were revealed. The most important of them, that I am Incredible and that there is something about me that makes others want to be, do and have more just because they heard me share from my heart - my Incredible Factor. That I am real, authentic and that I care about empowering others, that I am more than enough and that I was given everything I need to success in my life at birth...I did the work to know me, love me, appreciate me and become the me I was created to be. Ms. Incredible One.

You are greatness. You are powerful. You are beautiful. You are a gift to the world. You are More than Enough.

As I watched Naomi, what I really think she was saying is "I want to know my purpose." I found myself wanting to encourage her, to let her know that she is already who she desires to be. She must give herself permission to be herself. I wanted to tell her how beautiful her soul is and how she is not her past and that because she has made a non-negotiable decision to stop giving her past permission to speak, it will stop. I was so proud of her transparency and honesty that she wants more in her life - a deeper meaning, a purpose alignment, the Incredible Factor.

So what does all of this have to do with all of you?

Many women feel what Naomi discussed on the show - the time is now to live your dreams and identify your purpose but many have no idea how to make it happen. Many are in jobs they hate and want desperately to get it but they are allowing the economy to be their reason to stay. Many have a hidden passion, one that will enhance the lives of others but they are too afraid of what might happen if they REALLY do what they have been secretly praying for. Many lack the knowledge of how to achieve the next level in their life, career, business and need direction to make it happen.

I'd like to help. Your purpose is your reason why. I can name counteless successful people and less often than you might think do they say, "I want to make a boatload of cash." What they say instead is "I have a dream, I know my purpose and I want to add value to the lives of others using my business to fund and expand it."

When I am doing a coaching consult often the "thing" the potential client says is missing from their life is money. Let me be clear - it's not the money, its what the money can do to help you live your dream and purpose....Big Difference.

I'm so grateful to start each new day elated that my purpose, my gift, is bigger than me and all I have to do is surrender in obedience to the laws of the universe. Incredible....

"When I stand before God at the end of my life, I hope not to have a single bit of talent left, saying 'I used everything you gave me.'" Erma Bombeck.

What a profound statement. As I sit at my computer on the Friday before Labor Day, I think about the amount of labor one must do to be able to make this statement at the end of their life and I get excited. I am so sold out on the need of empowerment in the lives of others that it is my sincere desire that I use up everything that God gave me empowering people to realize that the Incredible is tucked on the inside, and they need only make the non-negotiable decision to unleash it!!!

Labor day is a celebration of the countless lives who gave their life in work for us to be the nation we are today. Because they worked hard, we get a day off. What will you do so that someone else may enjoy rest because you came before them and labored.

My favorite book says the harvest is plenty but the laborers are few.

Not everyone wants to work hard but everyone wants the benefits of hard work - success, a nice house, a healthy bank account, but people life is about so much more than material gain. Don't get me wrong, I know that money gives us choices and that is what we deserve to have - choices but don't get so caught up in the monetary gain of your hard work that you miss the gift you will leave to someone else so that they may rest. My favorite book also says that we should leave an inheritance for our children's children. In order to do so, we must labor with them in mind. It's not about you or I, it is about those who will be blessed because of our legacy.

I learned a long time ago that we each have a choice: we can pay now and play later or we can play now and pay later but make no mistake either way, we must pay in work. I get excited about the opportunity to do work that is meaningful and helping someone else realize their Incredibleness...it is my hope and desire for you that you will too.

Be Incredible,
Enjoy your day of rest!

You are who you think you are

"Who you are is not the reason you don't enjoy success; you’re destiny is hindered by who you think you are not."
Darrnyelle A. Jervey

Who do you say that you are? Who do you think that you are? As you know the saying goes, "you are who you say you are." So who will you be this day? We have a responsibility to be true to ourselves, when we represent ourselves in truth, we will be Incredible.

I remember when I was in the 5th grade. There was the pretty little girl, she was mixed and had long flowing thick, curly wavy hair. She was beautiful and I envied her. For so many reasons I cannot remember, I thought that if I could walk a mile in her shoes, somehow my life would be better. She came from a "good" family...her dad was a judge and her mother an affluent member of society...they had it going on. Even at that age, I shattered my ability to be the best me I could be because I thought that being a carbon copy of her would somehow be better.

How many of us have felt this way? How many of us see someone today and declare that if only we could be like them....

Well, as I have said before, you can only be the best copy of them OR you can be the authentic Incredible you by learning to change your definition of yourself. After all, as a man thinketh so is he Proverbs 23:7

I think that no matter the societal problem a person faces, the result stems from who they think they are. Take the man who abuses his wife, girlfriend, etc. He is strong arming her because he doesn't believe that he exudes strength. He feels that if he controls her, that gives him power but what he is failing to realize is that power starts within...if only he could see himself strong and able to control his situation by being a thermistat and not a thermometer, then he would feel secure in who he is and not have to take strength and power away from someone else..... take a woman in an abusive relationship. She doesn't believe that who she is deserves to be treated better than her current state so she stays and makes excuses for why she is his doormat....

My point is this...you are who you say you are and who you say you are is exactly who others will say that you are....Who do you want others to say that you are? After you answer that question, be sure to ask yourself what it will take to truly be who you want others to say that you are?

As always, here are my tips:

1. Inspect the Incredible - we have to constantly do a self-assessment and to borrow from one of my favorite Michael Jackson songs, we have to start with the "Man in the Mirror.... We've got to ask him to change his ways. If you want to make the world a better place take a look at yourself and make a change."

2. Be Authentic. Honesty truly is the best policy. Be honest with who you are. Like I said earlier you can only be a good copy at best of someone else but if you be who you were created to be, you can excel at that role everytime.

3. Learn to love yourself. To do this, you have to spend time with yourself getting to know your likes and dislikes. Learn to see yourself through the eyes of the Creator. When He made you, he said "It is good."

4. Attract the Incredible. Seek out relationships with people who want the best for you and people who know your worth. Self worth is more valuable than net worth in any portfolio and because of your self worth, your net worth will grow exponentially with people who support and believe in who you are.

5. Do something everyday to increase your self image. Doing something everyday will create a habit and positive habits are what leads to significant growth and change.

6. Be the change you want to see in other people - I guess this goes back to looking at the Man in the Mirror...but be a beacon of light. Marianne Williamson's poem Our Deepest Fear says that when we let our light shine, we unconsciously give others permission to do the same.

7. Fear the fear, but do it anyway. No matter what comes your way, feel the fear but don't let the fear hinder you. Fear is normal as long as it doesn't stop you from achieving. You were only born with two fears but you are afraid of your own shadow....That's not the way it was intended. Get over it but doing it anyway. What is the worst that could happen?

8. Repeat positive life affirmations out loud to yourself in the mirror. This is very important because you will have what you say. So if you speak about it, you will naturally bring it about.

I hope my tips help you this "Walk it Out" Wednesday. It is my sincere hope that I may reflect myself in truth so that I can be a catalyst to invoke Incredible change in your life.

Be Incredible,
Darnyelle

Re-Position Yourself

Over the past couple of weeks, I have noticed that I have consistently been saying the following phrase: "you have to put yourself in a position," and it got me to thinking: for as much as I have said it, clearly there is a reason and the reason is that people need to reposition themselves so that they can see the invisible, dream the incredible and do the impossible.

I love to share that expansion creates exposure to the possibility of the thing that you want/need in your life. Take riding on an airplane. Blessfully, you get a FREE upgrade to 1st class. You are excited and your mind naturally starts to think bigger and as you think bigger, you expose yourself to thoughts of consistent grandeur. You start popping your collar and walking taller because you have arrived at the defining moment in your travel rolodex....you are in a bigger, better position because the trigger of a FREE upgrade has expanded your mind and exposed you to the possibility of a new thing. Incredible One, you must re-position yourself to think. First and foremost to think. Simply to think. Second to think a different thought. The time is up for trying to be just like the current big thing. Be authentic to who you are and be the Incredible You that you were created to be. And to get to that destination, you must reposition yourself.

Be Incredible,
Darnyelle

Double for My Trouble: DAJ turns 33

As I write this, I have been 33 for one week and two days and I must admit, I am too excited. You see, I have self-proclaimed this next year of my life my "double for my trouble" year. You see, 3 stands for divine perfection, trinity and grace and with two 3's coming my way, 33 years on this, God's green earth, the way I see it, it only gets better with time. I stant to getting some serious blessings....and I am seeing doubles!

2008 was a year of lots of new beginnings, not the warm and fuzzy kind, at least not for me but it has been a great year. I learned a lot of new things about myself and about the strength that God stored up in my bosom and it has made me stronger, wiser and most importantly better. In honor of all that I was in 08, 09, the year of bearing fruit, will be my double portion year, which means that I will be opening my own produce stand!

The word I would use to describe what 08 was for me would be transition. I transitioned from everything that I knew and all the comfort that was my life. I learned how to live on the branch, where the fruit is and I learned that only what I do for God will matter. I had always been a person so concerned about what other people thought of me but as a result of several encounters with God in an intimate way, I learned that God is the absolute only determinant of who I am to be and become. As long as God is pleased, then I am all right with me!

33 is about self-realization and comfort in the skin I am in. 33 is about going after my dreams and living them with determination, honesty and integrity. 33 is about double! I am excited about being 33.

I am so excited about what is happening in my life: A new book and another on the way, an Incredible company and new business relationships and friendships that are destined to lead to greatness. A National Platform that is being birthed as I type this blog, living a life that is Incredible and enjoying every moment. Unleashing passion, abundance, confidence and expectation in my life and the lives of my clients and future clients.

I am getting double for my trouble in 09. What about you?
